In October of 2019, we organised a co-event with Helen Ní Ruanaidh who is working on the history project, ‘Stair faoi Cheilt’ with an tUltach. As part of the event, we invited pupils from Coláiste Feirste, as well as members of the public to take part in a archivisation workshop with Frankie Quinn from the Belfast Archive Project.
‘Claochlú Cultúir agus an Conradh’, ‘Stair Faoi Cheilt’ and the ‘Belfast Archive Project’ are all projects which are funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. There are a number of similarities between our project and ‘Stair Faoi Cheilt’ as both projects are dealing with archivisation and historical matters.
The workshop was carried out by Frankie who took participants through the process of archivisation, paying particular attention to his area of expertise; photographs. He also alluded to the importance of preserving historic sources to ensure that they aren’t lost.
